When Jean-Philippe (JP) bought his first car in 1999 at a small dealership in Chicoutimi, Quebec, the first thing he did was drive it to Manhattan, with his now wife Genevieve, to experience Wall Street on a typical Monday morning. Although it was not the trip Genevieve was expecting, it was a clear sign JP was passionate about finance, insurance, real estate and businesses. 

Over the last 15 years, JP honed his skills as a results-oriented professional, managing financial teams within public and private sectors. A strategic and analytical thinker, he is focused on building capacity and creating enduring value. He joined Steer as a financial controller in January 2020. 

JP graduated from Université du Québec à Chicoutimi with a major in finance & accounting and obtained his CPA-CMA designation in 2005. He also earned a Six Sigma green belt from McGill University, and is currently pursuing other insurance-related courses.

JP is a proud dad of three children. He played hockey all his young life and is now sharing his passion and the love of the game with his kids and others. If JP is not at the office, you will find him in one of Ontario’s hockey rinks in the winter or a lacrosse field in the summer.
